ALUMINIUM OXIDES Generally known as “polishing aluminiuma”, chemical symbol Al2 O3. It is made up of several families: purified ALUMINA, melted ALUMINA, calcinate ALUMINA, sub-micronic ALUMINA. Their choice depends on the desired results and on economic criteria. Particle size distribution between 0.03 and 200 microns. |
SILICON CARBIDES
Silicon carbide is a chemically pure substance, whose chemical symbol is SiC.
Particles are grey or green. The F1500 grain used for very specific super-finishing are grey in colour. The AQUA LAM silicon carbide undergoes a special treatment as well as separation under a high magnetic intensity to ensure all traces of dust are removed and maximum cleanness.
AQUA LAM offers all FEBA F particle sizes used in lapping, ranging from F100 (125 microns) to F1800 (0.7 microns).
CERIUM OXIDE
Chemical symbol CeO2. Used for super-finishing principally for glass polishing (e.g. BK7 520 knoop) cerium oxide reduces roughness through chemical and mechanical action. Selected on the basis of its maximal polishing action, the AQUA LAM cerium oxide is used in two particles sizes, 2 and 1 microns (other particles sizes upon request).
BORON CARBIDE
Chemical symbol B4C. Micronized with the greatest possible precision, the AQUA LAM boron carbide is suitable for all lapping applications and polishing applications requiring an ultra high performance abrasive. Average hardness from 2900 to 3550 knoop. It is available in stock in all particles sizes (Fepa F120 to F1500).
